Afternoon Ride

Williamsburg Winery – August 2017

Riding up from College Creek towards the winery, the road is covered by a canopy of leaves, and it is quite shady and dark. It is a nice respite on mile five of the ride. Looking ahead, there is a bright, sunlit view where the trees end and the field begins. On this August day, the clouds were hung perfectly, the vines were robust, and the tress were tranquil. And being August, it was hot.
It seemed like the right time to park the bike and take some pictures. When I was composing the image, I paid attention to the center and left part of the image, and the limbs on the upper right, forgetting that my ride was underneath, in the frame. Ordinarily I would have left it out, but I like the story it tells.
